About us
Packing lists built for how you actually travel
Most packing lists are either too generic or too long. We help you focus on what matters for your trip — then print it, share it, and check items off as you pack.
What we do
PackingList.life is a free packing list tool for vacations, cruises, college move-in, camping weekends, business travel, and road trips. Tell us your trip type, how long you are away, and how you are traveling with luggage — we surface must-bring essentials, strong suggestions, and items you can safely skip.
Add a destination and travel dates when you can, and we factor in likely weather so rain layers, sun protection, or warm clothing rise to the top. You stay in control: nothing is forced onto your list until you choose it.
Why travelers use us
- Trip-specific lists — cruise formal nights, dorm Twin XL bedding, reef-safe beach gear, and camping sleep systems are not afterthoughts.
- Weight awareness — see a running estimate as you build a carry-on or checked bag list, so you catch overweight bags before the airport.
- Printable packing lists — a clean paper list with checkboxes for packing day, or save as PDF from your print menu.
- Easy sharing — send a link to a partner or roommate so everyone works from the same list.
- No signup — open the site and start packing. No subscription, no paywall.
How it works
Start with your trip details — type of travel, length of stay, baggage limits, and any activities like hiking, swimming, or formal events. Review suggested items, add what you need to your carry list, then check each item off as it goes into your bag. You can save multiple trips and switch between them anytime.
Our item library covers 220+ common travel essentials across seven trip categories. Lists are maintained with real packing constraints in mind: airline carry-on limits, cruise line restrictions, dorm housing rules, and trail weight trade-offs.
Guides by trip type
For popular searches we publish focused packing lists with extra tips — Alaska cruises, Hawaii beach trips, college dorms, weekend camping, and more. Each guide opens a ready-made list you can adjust, print, and reuse.
Your data stays yours
We do not require an account and we do not store your personal packing lists on our servers. Your progress is kept on your own phone or computer. Shared links contain only the list you chose to send — read more in our privacy policy.
